HallThe Arab College of Jerusalem in Pictures," an exhibition of 42
photographs from the 1930s to 1948 was shown in AUB's Ada Dodge Hall between
June 14 and 28. The mostly black and white pictures lent a sense of history,
reminding the viewer of days not so far off but yet very different. The Arab College was established in 1918 as a teachers' college and developed during the British Mandate in Palestine (1918-1948). From its inception |
until 1934, the college was in rented buildings in the neighborhood of Bab
Al Sahira, in Jerusalem. then it moved to its new location on Jabal Al Mukaber,
also in Jerusalem. Next to it stood the British High Commission. The photographs, taken by several individuals, document the Arab College's achievements over an extended period and depict many important events in the life of the college, students and teachers |
