Education

The Division of Vascular Surgery organizes various activities to further the education and medical expertise of its staff.

Once a week, it convenes an educational conference where its members discuss patients and their cases before performing surgery. Furthermore, all resulting complications are reviewed in a mortality and morbidity meeting that is held monthly. The head of the division directs a weekly teaching conference aimed at the level of housestaff and medical students. Residents are assigned topics for presentation, often pertaining to challenging cases that are of instructive potential.

As the above efforts demonstrate, the division strongly believes that evidence-based medicine is the backbone to clinical teaching.
