A crumpled Mercedes was on display at AUB's Sea Gate parking
area early in the month of May in recognition of Arabic Traffic
Week. The week is a traditional event that takes place throughout
the Arab world, in which awareness campaigns concerning traffic
and driving issues such as speeding and security are held.
Arab media publicize the week a lot, and some countries even
issue stamps under the theme of the week. Lebanon joined the
campaign for the first time this year with the supervision
of the Ministry of the Interior and the YASA non-governmental
organization. Real models of smashed cars were displayed in
many universities and public areas such as the airport.
