Tassabehji ---
"Eat to live, not live to eat," is a statement most of
you have probably heard before. What it means is basically that our
whole purpose in life is to live.
Well, to live you need to survive, or we can say manage
yourself through life in a way so you won't die, be it literally ceasing
existence, or just dying in your soul, i.e., through depression and locking
oneself in the house.
As humans, whose ancestors biology is trying to
prove are apes, we do the ultimate to survive. Biological change
takes place for survival or to adapt to the change of circumstances, such
as the appendix that has now shrunk in the human body, has no significant
use and is sometimes taken out. But, I don't know much about biology;
I know from what I can see with my eyes, and infer with my mind.
If we agree, biological speaking, that humans evolve
so that they survive, then we can conclude that the brain evolves too.
The mind, not the biological aspect, but the content of the brain,
develops as well with the new ideas and technologies appearing in the world.
For a human to survive he or she has to catch up or be up to date with
all these developments.
In society people use many methods to survive.
Some people cheat, such as a student who cheats on an entrance exam to
get into a major or pass a course. Some people follow rules and regulations
to get where they want to get, or to survive (I am using the word survive
not only in the literal sense of live and die, but also in the sense of
achieving things, and getting places.)
As always, there is this grayish area where some individuals
have a balance between cheating and doing things according to the rules.
Under this category falls the term, "It was a white lie. I had to
say it." All these three categories are acceptable; they represent
the way these people have learned to survive. People who say, "I
can cheat, everyone else is doing it," irritates me the most.
If you agree with me on the fact that the mind develops,
then I believe these people's minds have not developed; the only innovative,
or survival tactic they are using, is copying.
For a society to survive as a whole, it needs to develop.
If there is no development, then the society will evaporate sooner or later,
because of all the overpowering societies that have innovated and developed.
If a society is filled with people who only copy what others do, then the
society is not going anywhere, no development in the brain is happening,
and everyone is like everyone else.
Be a primary copy of yourself first, and then, only if
necessary, a secondary copy of someone else.
