Party bickering splits March 14 protest

The Free Patriotic Movement galvanized a wide-scale anti-Syrian protest march across the country on March 14 to mark the opening of the "War of Liberation." Meanwhile, at AUB, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, the Amal Movement, and Hizbollah staged a crowded sit-in at College Hall to commemorate the 1978 Israeli incursions into south Lebanon. In response to this perceived split into traditional east-west polariazed sectarian protests, the Commoners, No Frontiers, and the Progressive Youth Organization staged their own sit-in an hour later, also at College Hall. Yes means no in Lebanon

Nearly every time someone tells me, " Yes, I will do something," they end up by not doing it. So it has started me wondering, does "yes" in Lebanon have a synonym "no," considering every time someone says, "yes" their actions show that they actually had meant to say "no." Once I asked someone to fix something on the computer; they told me, "Yes, definitely I will fix it." I actually saw them sitting down to make the changes, but when later on I went to check the text I find that, alas, nothing more

Dear editor Mr. Feghali, I don't know if you're the one to address or the whole Lebanese society, but I really find the magazine UniverCity void of meaning style and creativity. I didn't want to say professionalism because maybe the fruit of your concept of professionalism was this worthless university magazine. I don't know the motives behind the publishing of such a magazine that addresses academic youth, but the only motive I could infer from its publication more
