CBS
meets student leadership

Sparks
of friction were ignited on the Green Oval yesterday when
students with various political and non-political affiliations
nominated for the SRC elections introduced themselves and
their platforms to a steadily increasing student body during
an open forum sponsored by the Debate Club. The friction began
when Sons of Life candidate Walid Masroua commented that innumerable
sit-ins were taking place every year with nil results. Commoner
Toufic Koussa objected citing last year's SRC elections, the
postponement of the drop and ad period, and the control of
the tuition increase. more

Megaphone:
use and abuse
By
Elias Abou Samra
Two
major events took place on campus lately in response to
the American attacks on Afghanistan. Although similar in
content, the October 17 sit-in against US ÒterrorismÓ and
the October 23 student press conference for the American
CBS news network were poles apart in conveying student opinions.
The sit-in turned out to be one of those ÒfolkloricÓ activities
that electoral campaigners organize at the beginning of
every academic year. However, this yearÕs first

AUB and the Neo-new world order
By
Kamal Sanjakdar
Although
late and, to my knowledge, still not effective, the call
of President Waterbury during this yearÕs opening ceremony,
for students to Òdebate in their clubs and societies questions
not restricted to specialistsÓ is another Òavant-gardeÓ
stand AUB has always claimed it takes. This appeal is, for

overnights, caffeine, creative frustration, and low appreciation

Street: the new generation

football is a huge industry in the USA, and to see the sport
making its way onto the AUB Green Field on Sunday was a wonderful
sight. At around 12 noon, the American football tournament kicked
off with a rush of adrenaline. Moans and groans were heard as
players tackled each other in desperate attempts to get the
ball into the end zones.
