FROP welcomes freshmen students

During the "Welcome to AUB Assembly" on Sunday, September 23 in Assembly Hall , Maroun Kisirwani made his first public speech as Acting Dean of Student Affairs. Part of the three-day Freshmen Residential Orientation Program (FROP), Dean Kisirwani's speech addressed freshmen students and their parents, urging them to feel confident that the Office of Student Affairs would always be available for any help they need. The FROP, now in its second year, included academic information for new students as well as entertaining activities, such as a music and dancing show Sunday evening and a trip to Jbeil that included freshmen and international students. The program was possible this year thanks to the efforts of Ms. Nabila Dandan, Assistant Director of Admissions and FROP Project Manager, the FROP committee and the assistance of about thirty students, among them previous freshmen. "There was an effort made to organize it better than last year, but we could do much better", said a Group Leader. For the orientation sessions, students were placed into groups with their leaders (GLs) who assisted them in registration and academic regulations. They also participated in all the events, and organized special activities sessions on the 25th at the AUB beach, fields and courts. Freshmen also had the chance to meet the President, Deans, the FROP committee, their advisors and the AUB community. They also learned about financial matters and the health and wellness services offered at university. FROP officially ended on Tuesday at 2 p.m. after a Wrap-up lunch with the provost, advisors and the committee in AUB Main Cafeteria. The cafeteria also served students a continental breakfast during their residence on campus.
