As you scroll down the main AUB webpage, you may notice a
new addition, namely Student Affairs. According to Assistant
Dean Dr. Talal Nizammedine, the Student Affairs website was
recently constructed to provide easy access for students to
the different disciplines of student life. And while the website
does not change the role of the Student Affairs Office, stressed
Dr. Nizammedine, it offers valuable information about the
academic and social aspects of AUB, as well as other services.
The website includes an introduction to Student Affairs and
a link to the various divisions involved, whether student
activities and clubs, student government, student housing
or athletics, as well as links to International Student Services,
the Counseling Center and the Bursary Student Office. The
website, originally constructed by Abd El Rida Shahee, has
undergone much change, leading to its current form, with the
help of Shadi Fadda. Shadi, a computer science student, has
carried out the responsibilities of webmaster, adding Java
work and contributing much time and effort towards the completion
of the website. Although the main frame of the website is
already established, Shadi maintains that there will be a
few additions, and some improvements to make. A new work study
section is under construction, and a career placement section
is being prepared with the aid of Dr. Mariam Ghandour. In
addition, suggestions and feedback from users are welcomed,
and can be sent by filling out a form available on the website.
In addition to a description of the various activities of
Student Affairs, the website offers application forms for
clubs and activities, as well as dorm residency. This has
encouraged many students to use the website, facilitating
some of the simpler problems, especially those pertaining
to student housing and the international student program.
Still other students found the website inefficient, preferring
the more traditional way of visiting the Student Affairs office.
