The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a referral center in Lebanon and the Middle East region. It initiated and implemented the idea of comprehensive women’s healthcare by offering the most up to date care to women seeking medical attention. The Department pioneered prenatal diagnostic testing, including amniocentesis (the first performed in Lebanon), intrauterine transfusions, chorionic villus sampling, fetal reduction in multiple gestations following assisted reproductive technologies, and three-dimensional ultrasound. Our faculty members continue to be very active in clinical and basic research, and lecture nationally and internationally, each in their field of specialty. Moreover, many of our faculty members are involved in training programs on local and regional programs.
