Residency Program
The neurosurgical residency program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center is designed to provide a broad neurosurgical background and an exposure to the
neurosurgery subspecialty, as well as an opportunity to engage in both clinical and basic research. With a mission to provide the highest level of academic and clinical teaching, the program has proudly graduated well-rounded neurosurgeons who became academic leaders in their field.
The division offers a 6-year (PGY 2-7) residency program. One resident per year is accepted in the
division. Applicants from accredited schools in Lebanon and the region are interviewed every year.
The division requires residents to learn not just be taught. In addition to performing approximately 600 surgeries per year,
the division provides an educational program that includes neurosurgery,
neuro-oncology, epilepsy, vascular/endovascular, skull base and
spine conferences once a week.
Fellowship
A spine fellowship has been established in the Division of Neurosurgery. Our spine fellow will join the
division in 2009.
