AUB School of Nursing Centennial

Update on Pain Treatment in Lebanon The Lebanese Society for the Study of Pain (LSSP), local chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is sponsoring a one-day mini symposium entitled: "Update on Pain Treatment in Lebanon." This will beheld on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the Rotana Hotel between 9:00 amand6:00 pm. Specialists in the field of pain from the various medical schools and hospitals in Lebanon will be participating. The topics covered include: Pain mechanisms and  neuropathic pain; low back pain; headaches and or facial pain; cancer pain; acute and postoperative pain; pain in children; pain in the elderly; pain clinics- the Lebanese experience. Two distinguished keynote speakers have been invited to participate: Professor Michael Bond, current President of the IASP will speak on psychological approaches to chronic pain and its management and Professor HeraldBreivik, current President of the European Federation of IASP Chapters will speak on the prevalence and prevention of chronic pain after surgery'.
