Lecture: "Crosstalk between estrogen and Wnt/APC signaling: potential role in protective action of estrogens in colon," by Dr. Alexandre Kouzmenko. Organized by the Dept. of Biology.
Dr. Alexandre Kouzmenko (PhD Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Institute of Cytology and Genetics, USSR Academy of Sciences) has worked in well-known biomedical field groups in Russia, Germany, Australia and Japan, and received several international academic awards and published in prominent journals including Nature and Lancet.

Stakeholders' closed meeting, organized by the dept. of Health Management and Policy (HMPD) at FHS. Attendance will be limited to around 50 directors from hospitals, NGO's, ministries, syndicates and health care organizations across Lebanon.

Friday 24, 6:00 pm - Architecture  and Design
Lecture by Miquel Adrià: "Contemporary Mexican  Architecture", presented by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mexican  Embassy in collaboration with the  department of Architecture and Design. The lecture will be  preceded at 5.00pm by the opening of an exhibition of Mexican Architecture books and  periodicals, during which films about 20th Century Mexican  Architecture will be shown. The exhibit and films will run until April 30, 2009 from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. The exhibit will be closed on the weekend.

AUB Volunteering Day 2 - 2009

 

The FEA Student Representative Committee (SRC) and the Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) are organizing the "AUB Volunteering Day 2 - 2009" following the success of the 1st version organized by the FEA-SRC (Social Day, Spring 2007); this past event consisted of inviting several organizations/NGOs to AUB to present their work and solicit student volunteers.

The "AUB Volunteering Day 2009" event this year is scheduled to take place in West Hall Plaza, Thursday-Friday April 23-34, 2009. The 8th FEA Student Conference (FEASC) will be held at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) at AUB on May 20 and 21, 2009. This year the conference will be dedicated to the inauguration of the 15th president of AUB, Dr. Peter F. Dorman.

AUB will celebrate the formal inauguration of Dr. Peter Dorman as its 15th president on Sunday and Monday, May 3-4, 2009. The general theme of the inauguration, Towards an Abundant Life, reflects AUB's historic role in the education of generations in the Middle East. A series of events will take place during the inauguration month. The first will take place on Sunday May 3, and will be a Presidential Faculty Symposium entitled: "Academic Freedom and Innovation in the Middle East: AUB and the Expansion of Higher Education in the Region". The winner of the Inaugural Student Essay Contest will be announced.

Summer 2009 Dorm Applications for Current AUB Students
 
Dorm applications for summer 2009 are now available at Student Housing, West Hall Room 112. Deadline for applying is April 30, 2009. No deposit fee is required. However, withdrawal of reservation after May 29 involves a penalty.
 
Sports Festival and Parade - Charles Hostler Student Center  
Regular AUB students wishing to apply to live on campus during the summer must submit their complete application accompanied by a passport size photo. Places are limited and applications are processed on first-come, first-served basis.

Do You Know!

Seminar on Pharmacy: On October 19, 1970 AUB opened a six day seminar on the teaching and study of pharmacy. The seminar was opened by the Director General of Health, Dr. Jamil Anouti, with the participation of directors of Schools of Pharmacy from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, the UAR (Egypt) and Lebanon. The opening session was attended by AUB President Samuel B. Kirkwood, the Regional Director of WHO Dr. Abdul Hussein Taba, and the Chairman of the Pharmacy Association in Lebanon Dr. Adib Kaddoura, in addition to a large audience of pharmacists.
