Do You Know!
AUB Physician was among Team of Doctors who Tried to Save President John F. Kennedy
AUB physician Dr. Fuad A. Bashour was among the team of 15 doctors who attempted to revive US President John F. Kennedy at Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was rushed after being shot by a sniper, on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.
A specialist in cardiology, Dr. Bashour brought a sensitive cardiotachyscope into the emergency room and attached electrodes from the machine to Kennedy's left arm while other doctors were giving Kennedy closed-chest massage in an effort to restart heart action. Head of the cardio-pulmonary laboratory of AUB's Faculty of Medicine in 1957-58, Dr. Bashour was associate professor of internal medicine at the Dallas Hospital at the time of the attack.
