The University of Balamand Choir, soloists, and instrumentalists,
directed by Prof. Robert B. Betts, present a concert featuring two
cantatas by Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) and Easter Choruses from
Handel's 'Messiah'. This performance will be repeated on Thursday,
June 5 in Hariri Auditorium at the University of Balamand, at 7:00
pm. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

products, we have finally decided to put this proposal into action.

orders on Wednesdays from our truck at the Dale Home parking

are available for direct sale at the pilot plant according to the
following schedule:

Opening of the first solo exhibition by Hussein Baalbaki. Belonging
to the genre of abstract expressionism, his paintings are characterized
by their thick oil texture and the subtleness of their soft colors.
The display includes 21 pieces, ranging from the small size to the
big mural. The exhibition continues until June 22.

Charles W. Hostler Student
Center |

The Charles W. Hostler Student Center (CHSC) opened some of its
facilities for use on Friday, May 23, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00
p. m. The appropriate student identification or a CHSC membership
sticker for AUB full time employees will be necessary for admittance
to the gymnasium/fitness area and the pool. The pool pavilion is
still being completed, but should also be available in the very
near future. The track and other areas of the CHSC are available
for use by the AUB community during open hours. As a reminder the
entire CHSC complex is a smoke free environment. Your cooperation
is appreciated.
STUDENTS: there is no cost for full time
AUB students to use the CHSC facilities. Just remember to bring
your student ID card with you. It's a long climb back up the stairs!

AUB travels the world with
new set of postcards |
|
The Office of Information and
Public Relations recently issued a collection of AUB postcards, thus
reviving an AUB tradition that was last documented in the 1960s. With
the diversity of their content, the postcards bring to light the beauty
of the University's campus and the richness of its tradition. They
serve as a powerful worldwide promotional tool for AUB.
The postcards are available in decks of ten. They include a recent
photo of Fisk Hall, the inside of the AUB Archaeological Museum, Daniel
Bliss at Main Gate, a view of the Nadim Khalaf Tennis Courts, the
entrance to AUBMC, the Green Field with Charles Hostler Student Center
in the back, a view of College Hall from Charles Hostler Student Center,
and a view of Assembly Hall from Bliss Street.

Earthquakes! What to Do? |
|
DURING AN EARTHQUAKE:
a. Take cover under desk-table-or doorway,
keep head and neck protected.
b. Stay away from windows, shelving, or equipment
which can present a cutting, crushing, hitting
or fall danger.
c. Stay where you are, Do Not Run Outside
while quake is in progress, you may risk falling
dangers.
d. If outside, stay away from building if possible.
e. Evacuate only after quake has ended, assist
and be part of evacuation team.
f. Do not use elevators and check stairwells
for integrity before using.
AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE - Possibility of Aftershocks
a. Move to areas away from windows, toward
the interior of building.
b. Be prepared for aftershocks-Do Not Return
to your work area until directed.
c. Give first aid to the injured - take work area
first aid kit with you when evacuation is
necessary.
d. Do not move victims unless necessary to
prevent further injury.
e. Notify management and emergency personnel
of any thing which you believe needs to be
brought to their immediate attention.
f. Be prepared to evacuate and follow management
and emergency personnel direction. |
