University_Archives_Program.pdf

The Archives and Special Collections Department at Jafet Library comprises a wide collection of materials of archival nature, mostly AUB-related and spanning 1866 to the present. An essential part of the Archives' function is collecting material from University Units: minutes, workshops, lectures, posters, brochures, photographs, etc. of various events. To accrue this material, a special program, University Archives Program (UAP), was launched in January 2002 and was mandated by the President of the University.
In order to comply with the University Archives Program, you are kindly requested to provide the Archives Department with all the records, documents and items of archival nature which are related to our University.

With your full support the Department will be enriched and a wider range of information services will be accessible to both AUB and non-AUB Community.
We look forward to strengthening our working relationship and appreciate your cooperation.
(For a comprehensive list of archival material kindly follow the link above)

For any assistance, contact the Archives and Special Collections Department at:

Founders' Day
Student Essay Contest
Important Announcement To All Students
On December 4, 2006, AUB will celebrate Founders' Day. This is the annual ceremony marking AUB's establishment on December 3, 1866. To raise student awareness and participation in this important occasion, the University announces the eighth Founders' Day Student Essay Contest. All AUB undergraduate students regardless of class year, faculty, or major, are encouraged to enter this contest.

This year's Founders' Day essay theme is:

AUB in national and regional crises: what is its role?

Writers should think of this question in terms of the impact AUB has on its national and regional societies and cultures while providing an original vision of the future for AUB in the region.
Essays should not exceed 1,000 words in length and may also be jointly prepared by two or more students. A special selection committee appointed by AUB President John Waterbury will evaluate the submitted essays and recommend a winner.
The results of the contest will be announced during Founders' Day ceremony this year, on December 4 at noon, in Assembly Hall. The winner will receive a prize of $500 and will be asked to read her or his essay during the Founders' Day ceremony. The name of the winner will be inscribed on a plaque in the entrance to Assembly Hall.
Entrants should submit a typed essay, on CD, at the Dean of Student Affairs Office in West Hall no later than Thursday, November 16, 2006.
Please make sure to obtain a receipt for your submission.
