"Travelling Traditions:
Comparative Perspectives on Near Eastern Literatures"


The Anis Makdisi Program in Literature (AMPL) and "Europe in the Middle East - the Middle East in Europe" program are convening an international academy on 2-13 October 2006: "Travelling Traditions: Comparative Perspectives on Near Eastern Literatures".

Public Lectures, Discussions and Film
The academy is chaired by Professor Friederike Pannewick and Dr. Samah Selim and is held in cooperation with the Orient Institute and the Heinrich Boll Foundation - Middle East Office.
The program will include specialized and public sessions. The public sessions are listed below:

The AUB Planner is 8.5 x 16.5 cm in size. It comes in six different cover designs: creative, or plain leatherette in black, blue, green, havana or tan embossed with the AUB logo.

Do You Know?

The AUB flag was designed by Dr. Samir Thabet. It has the same proportions (ratio of width to length) as the Lebanese national flag and has the AUB colors (white and red). The design is of five equal bands. The top, middle, and lower bands being red, with the intermediate bands being white.
The AUB Senate voted to accept the new shape and design of the AUB flag at its 29 May 1969 meeting. The AUB Board of Trustees voted to accept the design at its June 1969 meeting.

Cashier's Office: During the Holy month of Ramadan, the Cashier's Office opening hours will be from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Volunteers Are Needed for data entry in the Faculty of Health Sciences for a study on Women's Health in Nabaa. Training and a letter of recommendation will be given to volunteers who assist in this project. For further info: Pass by Room 328 – Van Dyck Bldg.
Shuttle Service- Winter Schedule
Effective September 18, 2006, the operating hours of the Shuttle Service Monday through Friday will be 6:30 am - 8:30 am and 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
