This is an interdisciplinary conference sponsored by the Center for American Studies and Research at the American University of Beirut, December 18-21, 2005. Taking the current encounters between 'America' and the Middle East as a starting point, the conference will attempt to explore these encounters through contextualization and questioning.

Registration:
The conference registration fee of $50 USD entitles individuals to attend the Opening Ceremony featuring the address by Dr. Juan Cole, the reception which follows, as well as the reception and dinner on the final evening of the conference. Apart from the Opening Ceremony and address, all paper sessions will be held in West Hall on the AUB campus and will be open to AUB students and the public free of charge.

Join the Book Club

The Book Cub's January meeting will take place on the 11th of January. The books we plan to discuss are “Somewhere, Home” by Nada Awar Jarrar, and “Beirut Madinat al Aalam” by Rabih Jaber.
