Program

The meeting will begin by a 2-day workshop course on Parallel Programming Algorithms (Jan. 4th and 5th), followed by a 2-day conference on state of the art tools and applications in Grid and Parallel Computing (Jan. 6th and 7th). The workshop course is open to graduate students and faculty members.

A limited number of contributed talks, and poster sessions will be selected for the workshop.

German Embassy Scholarships

The German Embassy is offering scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year. These scholarships include research grants, scholarships for artists, summer course grants, study visits, and training for agriculture majors.

What is the procedure?

Visit the department of student activities in West Hall Room 103-between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Pick up a membership application. Fill in the application; pay the membership fee of 5000 at Cashier's office. Submit to Department of Student Activities in West Hall.

Is there a dead line?

* The Women's League's first general meeting of the season. There will be a book club presentation by Colleen MacDonell and Nadine El-Yafi, who will speak about the benefits of Yoga.

The Women's League is English-speaking and currently consists of about 125 women from Beirut, both local and foreign. The goal is to provide a forum for women from all walks of life to meet and socialize, to form friendships. A number of activities are planned on a monthly basis.

* Lecture by Dr. Hussein Ibish: “Ten Themes of Islamophobic Discourse in the US.” This is the first lecture of the PSPA’s “POLITICS AND POLICY” series for the new academic year, and is presented by The Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saoud Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR).

Dr. Ibish is the editor and principal author of two reports on hate crimes and discrimination against Arab Americans. He is also the author several books.

Organized by CASAR.


AUB Catalogue

The 2005-2006 AUB Catalogue is out. The 576-page book includes course descriptions for every major in every faculty, plus mission statement, history, academic services, application, admissions as well as university calendar and administration. Also included is information on financial aid.

The Catalogue is available at the Registrar's Office and is published on the AUB Home Page.

The 2005-2006 AUB Student Handbook is out. The 150-page book includes

Run the Marathon and Help The Brave Heart Fund

Would you be interested in running for a charity that is associated with the AUB Medical Center - The Brave Heart Fund?   The fund was established in November 2003 at the Children's Heart Center, AUBMC following the success of a runners fund raising initiative at the first Beirut International Marathon.
