Dorm Applications for Old Students - Summer 2005

Dorm applications are now available at the Office of Student Affairs, West Hall 111. Please make sure to pay the deposit fee at the Cashier's prior to submitting your application. Deadline is May 27, 2005.

A CAMS Summer School in Mathematics

The Center for Advanced Mathematical Sciences (CAMS) presents a Summer School in Mathematics entitled: "Mathematical Theory of Nonlinear Dispersive Waves".

Description

The School objective is to introduce graduate students (majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics) to the theory and mathematical techniques of Nonlinear Dispersive Waves.

Participation

A limited number of grants covering travel and local expenses of participants from developing countries are available.

A few slots are open to lectures by researchers in the field, working in the Middle East and North Africa. Those wishing to be considered are encouraged to include the title and abstract of their proposed talk in the registration form, for review by members of the organizing committee.

Announcing 2005 Fulbright Scholarships Master's Degree in the USA

Professionals and students who would like to pursue a master's degree in the U.S. are invited to apply for a Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship for the academic year beginning August 2006.

This scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and administered by AMIDEAST in Lebanon. Full details about the criteria for applying to this scholarship are available from AMIDEAST / Lebanon.

The grant covers expenses incurred for travel to and from the United States, tuition and books, health insurance, and room and board. No funding is available to meet expenses of Fulbright students' dependents (husbands, wives, children, parents, etc).

The deadline for submission of all Fulbright applications is July 15, 2005

Cap, Gowns, Hoods Distribution for the Commencement of 2005

To all AUB Graduating Students

In order to efficiently expedite the process of distributing the caps, gowns and hoods to all graduating students, kindly follow the steps below:

I.          Step I:  Fill-in a cap and gown registration form at the Registrar's Office.

II.         Step II:  Take the form and proceed to pay the rental and refundable deposit amounts at the Cashier's office, during cashier's working hours.

III.       Step III: After payment, proceed to pick-up the cap, gown, and hood from West Hall room 109 (ext. 3155) as per the schedule below:

Monday May 30, 2005 to Thursday June 23, 2005

From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

every day from Monday to Friday (weekends not included)

IV.        Step IV:  Caps, gowns, and hoods can be returned after the commencement ceremony to West Hall Room 109 (ext. 3155) as per the schedule below:

Monday June 27, 2005 to Friday July 15, 2005

From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Graduates returning their graduation caps, gowns and hoods after the above dates will be charged a penalty fee of 15,000 L.L. which will be deducted from their deposit.

End of September 2005 will be the last date to return the garments. If you do not return them by that date, we will consider that you would like to keep them and the full deposit will be charged.

V.         Step V:  Proceed to the cashier's office with the copy of the registration form (blue) and the receipt for reimbursement of deposit. Kindly note that the 45,000 L.L. rental fees are not refundable.
