"A Lateral Transfer
is a transfer from one job to another at the same classification
and pay grade, either within the same department or in a
different department. The University, as a rule, does not
encourage lateral transfers since usually neither the University
nor the employee benefit from such a transfer. Lateral transfers
may be permitted on an exceptional basis and only after
the involved parties have discussed the issues with the
Human Resources Committee whereby the transfer appears to
be beneficial to all concerned."
