Third Beirut International Marathon           November 13, 2005

Sunday November 13, 2005 was the day when more than 450 runners from all ages chose to “Run with their Heart” in the third Beirut International Marathon to help needy children with Congenital Heart Disease.

The action begun four days earlier when the Marathon Village at the BIEL opened its doors to more than 40,000 visitors. The brightly colored Brave Heart Fund stand with its attractive bouquets of red balloons was amongst the busiest with visitors lining up to pick up their Brave Heart Fund running gear packed in our special branded goody bags and others waiting to find out just what all the fuss was about.

On Race Day, Brave Heart Fund supporters (runners, volunteers and friends) could be seen wearing our red T-shirts and white caps on the streets of Beirut, thus helping to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease. Furthermore, refreshment stations along the race track were branded with Brave Heart Fund posters and balloons and attended by our volunteers from various schools and universities around Beirut. They spent the day cheering the Brave Heart Fund team, handing out refreshments and welcoming them at the finish line, the last 500m of which was lined with our branded red balloons for all to see.

The Brave Heart Fund’s efforts to raise awareness and funds for needy children with Congenital Heart Disease, and to recruit as many runners and volunteers as possible for Lebanon’s highest profile sports event, have earned us the title “Best NGO of the Year” by the Beirut Marathon Association. The Press took special interest in our team’s hard work with a live TV interview on Marathon Day from the race track in the heart of Beirut, a feature in the BIM magazine as well as in Movie Guide magazine, an article in the Daily Star (November 12th issue), Noun Magazine (Dec 05/Jan 06 issue) and many others.

We would like to thank the following companies whose generosity made it possible for the Brave Heart Fund to be a great success at the Third Beirut International Marathon.
