“Art for the Heart” Dubai Gala dinner October 18th 2008
On Saturday 18th October, under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, the Brave Heart Fund held its first Gala Dinner in Dubai, bringing together 470 of Dubai’s finest residents to raise awareness and funds for needy children with Congenital Heart Disease in Lebanon.
The evening opened with a moving speech by Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Education and Scientific Research.
An art auction, animated by TV Celebrity Neshan Haroutounian, raised much needed funds for life-saving surgeries. Some of the region’s most respected names in Contemporary Arab Art donated their works for the “Art for the Heart” auction. These include renowned and prestigious artists such as Chaouki Chamoun, Mireille Honein, Hussein Madi, Nabil Nahas and Nadim Karam, Mohamad Rawass, among many others.
The setting at the Godolphin Ballroom at the Emirates Towers was glamorous and fun, with entertainment provided by comedian Nemr Abou Nassar, musical duo Raja and Manal and the night’s MC, Diala Makki.
After an exciting, rewarding and fun evening, every guest was given a parting gift of a limited edition lithograph by artist Michel Pelloille, commissioned by gallery owner Fadi Moghabghab and Boutique 1.
The event was a resounding success. Thanks to the superb response of the Dubai community, the funds raised from this evening were enough to cover the expenses of 65 complex heart procedures for needy children with congenital heart disease.
