Visiting Residents' FAQ
- Can I apply for an elective rotation?
You are welcome to apply for an elective rotation to any of our residency training programs. You can apply as:
- Visiting Resident
As a Visiting Resident, you will function in the same capacity as the AUBMC resident. To be accepted in this status, you must have passed USMLE Step II or the Dean’s Exam in the last two years and
must have the approval of the hosting Program Director and the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
- Observer Visiting Resident
As an Observer Visiting Resident, you may attend patient rounds, teaching conferences and utilize the medical library. Observers may not participate in any patient care activities. Observers also need the approval of the hosting Program Director and the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
- What is the process for applying?
Simply complete the Application for Visiting Resident Elective Rotation
(above) and provide the required documents. The approval process takes approximately four to six weeks. The Office of Graduate Medical Education will notify you by email if your request has been granted or rejected.
- How long can my elective rotations be?
Elective rotations are not to exceed three months and should fall within the duration of your training program.
- Are there any fees?
A 75,000 L.L. (50$) application fee is required. An additional processing fee of 75,000 (50$) will be incurred in case of acceptance.
