The Family Medicine Clinics

Introduction

The Family Medicine Practice clinics are situated in in Building 56, adjacent to AUBMC Visitors’ Parking lot, and is part of the American University of Beirut Medical Center. The main function of the clinics is to provide comprehensive ambulatory primary care. The clinics are manned by qualified faculty members, residents, nurses and staff. Its facilities include clinics, minor surgery room, record room, and conference room.

The Family Medicine clinics includes the following services


Services

- General medical exam
- Care of children at all stages of development
- Prenatal, postnatal care, in addition to normal deliveries
- Family planning and advice on different contraceptive methods, including intrauterine device insertion
- Curative health services for all ages and common chronic and infectious diseases
- Preventive services:
  1. Children and adult vaccination
  2. Screening tests and examination as per international and national guidelines for early detection of diabetes, hyperlipidemias, malignancies and others
- School health
- Occupational health
- Minor surgeries:
  1. Circumcision
  2. Sebaceous cysts and lipomas removal
  3. Ingrown toe nail removal
  4. Intra-articular injections
  5. Suturing of wounds
  6. Incision and drainage of abscess
  7. IUD insertion
  8. Others
- Health education on several topics:
  1. Smoking cessation
  2. Hypertension
  3. Exercise
  4. Hyperlipidemias
  5. Obesity
  6. Diabetis mellitus
  7. Asthma
