  • I am pleased to inform you that the Board of Trustees, during its meeting in June 2011, has approved the well-deserved promotion of one of our faculty member in the Department – Dr. Nelly Rubeiz.  Nelly has been promoted to the rank of Professor of Clinical Dermatology effective October 1, 2011. This promotion is not only a huge vote of confidence, but also a profound recognition of her extraordinary research, exemplary teaching, and generous service and citizenship to the Department and the Faculty of Medicine at AUBMC. Please join me in congratulating our colleague on her accomplishments and to wishing her all the success and growth in the future.     It gives me pleasure to inform you that Dr. Samer Ghosn has been promoted from an Associate Program Director to a Program Director of our Residency Training Program. Samer has effectively and diligently served our program over the past five years and deserves this promotion without any reservation.
     
  • New Residents
    This is to welcome our new crop of residents who have joined us this year and to wish them and all of you a fruitful and productive academic year 2010-2011. 
    It has been customary to relay few housekeeping memo(s) - copies attached with this e-mail - with regard to our day-to-day operation within the department.   These will serve as a reminder to those of you  who have been in the department for the past year/s and as an orientation to those who joined us recently on board.
    Kindly familiarize yourselves with the policies and procedure manual of the department and AUBMC at large, copies of which are available with Mrs. Shaar and with the staff in all the units within the department on the third floor i.e. in dermatologic surgery suite, private clinics, and OPD.

  • Election of Dr Abdul-Ghani Kibbi on the Board of Directors of ILDS
    On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr Fuad Ziyadeh took pride and great pleasure in informing members of the faculty that Dr Abdul-Ghani Kibbi, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the "International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS)". This election took place in Buenos Aires during the 21st World Congress in October 2007. There was tremendous support for Dr. Kibbi from delegates from more than 100 countries. Dr. Kibbi will be the first Arab in the board since the ILDS was conceived in Paris in 1889. We all will look forward for the able representation by Dr Kibbi of Lebanon and AUB in this international arena for the next eight years, and in close cooperation with the WHO, to advance professional, clinical, and academic issues in the field of dermatology.

  • Promotion of Dr Maurice Dahdah
    Dr Nadim Cortas, V/P and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, informed the Department of Dermatology of his approval of the promotion of Dr Dahdah from Instructor to Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology, effective April 1, 2008. On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr Cortas congratulated Dr Dahdah and wished him luck in his future endeavors. His contributions to the academic and service programs of the department are and will be greatly appreciated. Good luck, Maurice!
