Poet Yussef Abdel-Samad reads excerpts from his two books poetry, Al-Saif
wa Sawsan (The Sword and Sawsan) and Bab al-Madina (The City Gate) on
April 8 at Bathish Auditorium in the presence of a host of literary buffs.
He was introduced by former Ambassador Fuad Turk and literary expert Nour
Salman, who described the poet as someone who has much nostalgia for his
homeland, as expresses in his poetry.
Abdel-Samad is the president of the New York-based New Pen League, which
was established in 2005, taking inspiration from the original Pen League
of 1920, which had gathered literary greats such as Gibran Khalil Gibran,
Amin Rihani, Mikhael Naime, and Elia Abu Madi.
