Professor Maya Farah

Meet Maya Farah, the youngest faculty member of the Olayan School of Business. Recently graduated from the Manchester Business School, she decided to return to Lebanon despite the security situation of last year.

Farah earned her bachelor's in banking and finance from the Lebanese American University in 2000 and followed that with a master's there in 2002. A year later, she left for England to pursue her PhD at the Manchester Business School, which she completed in 2007. While in England, however, she received a phone call offering her a position at the Olayan School of Business, which she eagerly accepted. Her teaching and research concerns focus on consumer psychology, corporation management and ethics, and corporate social responsibility.

Farah emphasized she is committed to living in Lebanon despite its many problems. She hopes that as a professor she can inspire her students to improve conditions in the country, and she always urges those who left to return to living in their homeland.

An avid traveler, Farah makes it a point to travel whenever she can. In addition to her residence in England, she has visited the United States, France, Senegal, and Gambia. Farah's other interests include reading, social work, and silk painting.

Farah, who stressed that she wants to remain and teach in Lebanon, hopes eventually to open her own business.
