The medical students of AUB have been promoting awareness against the spread of HIV/AIDS by distributing pamphlets throughout campus that contain valuable information and the latest statistics on the disease. Most recently, they also organized a fundraising concert of Oriental jazz in support of SCORA, their student-run committee on reproductive health.
"We were able to raise enough money to sustain our funds in the AUB Medical Center Out Patient Department for the next year," reported student Labib Zakka, "and we hope to continue our quest in providing people living with AIDS with their necessary tests." So far the funds have helped over 100 patients in the past five years.
SCORA is one of many committees in the Lebanese Medical Students International Committee and a member of the International Federation of Medical Student's Associations.
