Inspired by the thought that the years at a university are exciting and important not only for students but also for their parents, AUB decided to issue a handbook containing useful information in English and Arabic.
The Parents Handbook 2007-08 includes information about the history of the University, surveys of its mission, type of education, administration, facts and figures, academic information, student life, and campus facilities and services.
"Our 140 years in higher education have taught us that even stressful moments experienced by students at AUB are part of a learning process in which the student matures as an adult. We hope that this handbook will help you understand the nature of the AUB experience," said President John Waterbury in his introduction to the handbook.
The committee assigned to assemble the handbook consisted of Maroun Kisirwani, dean of Student Affairs; Talal Nizameddin, associate dean of Student Affairs; Ibrahim Khoury, director of the Office of Information and Public Relations; Omar Odeh, director of the Office of University Publications; Wadad El Husseiny, director of Student Activities; and Ghadi Fala, assistant director of the Office of Development. The group worked consistently and vigorously to arrive at the best content designed to serve the aim of the handbook.
