Professor Mrad Lectures Abroad

| Professor Fuad Mrad at the sixth American
Society for Engineering Education Global Colloquium |
Fouad Mrad, professor of electrical and computer engineering in AUB's
Faculty of Engineering and Architecture traveled widely to international
conferences in fall 2007. He gave in October the keynote speech at the
National Instruments, USA sponsored Sixth American Society for Engineering
Education Global Colloquium on Engineering Education in Istanbul, Turkey,
entitled "Engineering Education Quality Assurance: For Positive Change."
In November he attended an Expert Group Meeting on Harnessing Technology
for Enhanced Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Productivity and
Competitiveness in Cairo, Egypt. During the workshop, which was organized
by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia
and the ASFT, Mrad presented the regional background paper entitled "Mechanisms
and Models for Harnessing Technology in SMEs."
That same month Professor Mrad also attended the second seminar for Advanced
Industrial Control Applications held in Madrid, Spain, and organized by
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Industry Applications
and Control System Societies. Mrad presented a paper entitled "Demand-based
Control of Variable Speed Pumps in Multi-zone High-voltage Alternating
Current "-coauthored with Mohannad Hakeem (ME '05) and Charbel Antonios
(BE '04).
