An exhibition of comic posters created by Eleanor Aboussouan, who works
as a benefits analyst at the AUB Medical Center, was held for three days
at the beginning of October in Issam Fares Hall. The display, which was
made up of panels of colorful and amusing illustrations, consisted of
15 comic illustrations that held much educational value in helping promote
health awareness.
The posters were based on Aboussouan's comic book, A Toast to Your Health,
which will be released soon. The book deals with health issues through
the experiences of two children and how they interact with each other
in trying to find the answers to questions about health, safety, and the
environment. The objective of the show was to increase concerns of the
public in dealing with and avoiding the many situations that may endanger
life or cause disease, such as burns, bad hygiene, poor nutrition, and
disregard for safety. Aboussouan explained that the messages conveyed
through the cartoons need to be "viewed together in a studied fashion
so people will understand exactly what they mean."
