Bassem Barhoumi

Effective September 1, Bassem Barhoumi was appointed director of the Facilities Planning and Design Unit (FPDU). In his new position, Barhoumi will be reporting to Samer Maamari, Vice President for Facilities, and all the staff will report to him.

Barhoumi, who took his MS in civil engineering at the University of Michigan in 1990, has had over 18 years of experience in management, design, construction, renovation, and supervision of major capital projects.

In 1992, Barhoumi joined the Physical Plant Department at AUB as a member of the engineering and construction division. He planned, designed, and supervised the construction works of various projects related to the AUB campus, the Medical Center, and the Agricultural Research and Education Center (AREC). In 2003, he transferred to FPDU as a project manager entrusted with the design, project management, and client representation of the Charles Hostler Student Center, the Suliman Olayan School of Business, and other ongoing Master Plan projects.
