Bassem Barhoumi Appointed Director of FPDU

Effective September 1, Bassem Barhoumi was appointed director of the
Facilities Planning and Design Unit (FPDU). In his new position, Barhoumi
will be reporting to Samer Maamari, Vice President for Facilities, and
all the staff will report to him.
Barhoumi, who took his MS in civil engineering at the University of Michigan
in 1990, has had over 18 years of experience in management, design, construction,
renovation, and supervision of major capital projects.
In 1992, Barhoumi joined the Physical Plant Department at AUB as a member
of the engineering and construction division. He planned, designed, and
supervised the construction works of various projects related to the AUB
campus, the Medical Center, and the Agricultural Research and Education
Center (AREC). In 2003, he transferred to FPDU as a project manager entrusted
with the design, project management, and client representation of the
Charles Hostler Student Center, the Suliman Olayan School of Business,
and other ongoing Master Plan projects.
