Dean Emeritus Nuhad Daghir of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences,
who attended the International Food Technologists Annual Meeting in Chicago
(July 28-August 2), was invited to chair a session there, on the "Management
of Food Storage, Handling and Distribution during Crisis." The international
event attracted 24,000 participants, who came from 75 different countries.
Also attending from AUB was Assistant Professor Zeina Kassaify of the
Nutrition and Food Science Department, who delivered two papers, "Food
Safety Issues during Crisis in the Middle East Region" and the "The

Dean Daghir to present his paper entitled "The Role of Professional
Associations and NGOs in Addressing Food Issues during Crisis." The
two-hour session was well attended by a variety of people from the scientific
community, as well as from various government and non-government organizations
based in Washington, DC.
In the Sensory Evaluation session of the meeting, Assistant Professor
Ammar Olabi of AUB also presented a paper, which was entitled, "Persistence
