Samir Alam Appointed Acting Chair of Internal Medicine

Dr. Samir Alam is appointed Acting Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine replacing Dr. Kamal Badr who is taking the new position of Dean of the Medical School at the Lebanese American University. Dr. Badr, who served as chariman of the department since July 2000, will always be remembered for seizing "opportunities to sustain and enhance the department's prominence within the Faculty of Medicine and the Medical Center."

Dr. Alam is a "distinguished cardiologist who has led the Division of Cardiology to outstanding stature in research, teaching and patient care for more than twenty years." He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the American Heart Association, and has held important leadership positions in national and regional professional societies including Chairman of the Middle East Medical Assembly. He is recipient of the Lebanese Cedars Medal, Commander Rank.
