Since the establishment of the Syrian Protestant College in
1866, Lebanon and AUB, have witnessed two world wars, a number
of smaller conflicts, and regional wars with Israel, the last
of which took place during the summer of 2006. This war, like
all the others, imposed intolerable pain and suffering on Lebanese
civilians, one million of whom were rendered homeless and 4,000
were injured. In 34 days, the war claimed the lives of 1,200
civilians. |
