Middle East Business Council Meets at AUB

On March 28, for the second time since it was formed in 1999, the Middle East Business Council held its annual conference at AUB. The Council, which is dedicated to improving Middle Eastern business and furthering better understanding of how it fits into the global market, holds its conferences at different venues throughout the Middle East.

The issues discussed at the latest meeting included productivity in the Middle East, how the Middle East fits into the financial services industry, and issues of corporate governance in the region. Discussions were informed by research undertaken by the Conference Board, the association responsible for organizing the council's meetings.

The Conference Board was pleased and encouraged by the results of the meeting at AUB. Over twenty business executives attended the two-day conference. Jory Buhay of the Conference Board said the gathering helped build partnership between the council, the University, and the community and is sure to foster a more successful and mutually beneficial relationship. Local business leaders provide valuable knowledge and research to the council, and the Conference Board, in turn, offers a solid member base in the United States and Europe, which serves to establish competence in economics and corporate citizenship-a combination of attributes that is proving successful.
