Mime Reminds Us of Our Human Heritage |
The most unusually delightful of the Beirut Street Festival’s performances was the one held on Bliss Street and at the entrance of College Hall on October 7. It was the “Figurazione“ mime performance by Silence Theatro of Italy, in which a group of young Lebanese artists also participated. The Office of Information and Public Relations organized the group’s visit to AUB in coordination with the Office of Student Affairs. The performance took the captivated audience on a journey of “odors, noises, images, the unexpected, memories, dreams and whispers… our occupations and daily fatigue in which we recognize our historic environmental heritage, but above all our human heritage.“ In other words, the group tried to depict in mime most of the ordinary yet valuable moments that constitute one’s life. The Beirut Street Festivals are held annually during the months of September and October under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.
