SPARK: The Lebanese Enterpreneurship
Compitition Launch Party

---The SPARK launch party on December 27, 2001, constituted three hours of fun, prizes and music. In planing the event the AUB Entrepreneurship Club counted on some 250 people, but ended up with an amazing 650.
---The first and only business plan competition in the Middle East, the SPARK party was inaugurated by Dr. George Najjar, Dean of the School of Business. He thanked the Entrepreneurship Network for its relentless efforts in making the business plan competition a reality. Dr. Florence Eid of the School of Business, then gave a quick presentation about SPARK. The launch party raised tremendous interest in the business plan competition, as evidenced by the flow of abstracts to date. HP Invent/CIS are this year's prime sponsors of SPARK.
What is SPARK?
---SPARK, Lebanon's yearly business plan competition, is inspired by the 50K Entrepreneurship Competition of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and spearheaded by the AUB School of Business. SPARK awards cash and in-kind prizes to the most innovative and promising ideas for new companies. All university students can participate in the form of student teams or work with existing private sector entrepreneurs. The jury consists of business professionals from around the world, including Wall Street and Silicon Valley.
SPARK contributes to economic growth by supporting local creative efforts and by helping turn innovative ideas into tomorrow's leading firms. SPARK receives assistance from its organizers
