The Office of the Vice President for Regional External Programs at AUB
offered a two-day workshop on Six Sigma, one of the most advanced quality
management systems, devised by Jack Welsh, former head of General Electric
and perhaps one of the world's best known CEOs.
The workshop was conducted by Mark Palla and Joe Sepulveda, two world
renowned experts from the Houston-based American Productivity and Quality
Center, from which AUB has obtained formal membership.
The program, funded by USAID, was made available to Lebanon's business
community under the auspices of AUB's Center for Business Excellence and
sponsored by both REP and the School of Business. Over 75 participants
representing 20 companies from various sections of the country took part
in this unique workshop, held September 25-26, 2001, at the Gefinor Rotana
Hotel.
The September workshop was part of a series on best practices AUB has
held over the past six months, including one on e-business which took
place on September 27 and 28. Several others are planned for the future.
