The IEEE Student Branch (IEEESB) at AUB held its annual elections on May 30 with 253 out of 336 IEEESB members taking part.

The new Executive Committee, effective October 1, 2001, includes:

President: Miss Sima Azar (EE 2002),

Vice President: Mr. Ayman Chalhoub (EE 2002)

Treasurer: Mr. Hassan Mohanna (CCE 2004)

Secretary: Mr. Aristide Bacha (EE 2003).

The current Committee includes:

President: Mr. Ghassan Abou-Samra,

Vice President: Mr. Michel El-Azar,

Treasure: Mr. Hussein Moughneih,

Secretary: Mr. Rami Farhat.

The new committee is already organizing activities such as an annual seminar week and social gatherings.

A drive is underway to attract new members, bringing total membership to 336, almost 70% of the student body at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The IEEESB has also initiated an IEEE Conferences Proceedings library containing some 200 volumes corresponding to over 100 IEEE proceedings of recent international conferences in various fields.
