WORLD PRESS PHOTO EXHIBITION 2000

An exhibition of professional press photographs took place at Issam Fares Hall between November 21 and 27. Sponsored by World Press Photo, an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1955, the photos captured the most disturbing of world events for our scrutiny.
The pictures on show were winners of a competition, to which 42,215 photos were submitted by 3,981 photographers from 122 countries. The traveling exhibition, unique of its kind, was brought to Beirut with the support of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, ABN/AMRO Bank, St. Joseph University, Holy Spirit University, AUB, Kodak Near East and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
