Recent Senate Meeting

Memorial tributes for former President David Dodge, former interim president and dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences James Cowan, and the Department of Surgery’s former chair of the Division of Urology Kamal Hemady began the January 30 University Senate meeting with the reading of statements and a minute of silence.

In the course of the meeting the senate voted one late MD degree (Fadi Kaddoura), and approved unanimously two motions: 1) to refer a draft policy on sick leave for academics to the Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs and 2) to address the issues made in the self-study report on re-accreditation, “Leadership, Governance, and Administration. . .in relation to the role of the senate, and to further instruct the Senate Steering Committee to prioritize the issues to be discussed and place them on the agenda of future senate meetings.”

The Senate Action Log (2007-08) was distributed to senators along with a list of motions raised in the senate during that academic year. Finally, during consideration of other business, a senator requested that the Policies and Procedures website (https://pnp.aub.edu.lb/) be made accessible from the Academics menu of the AUB website, not only from the Administration and Services menu.
