Building Updates on AUB Campus

School of Nursing

The new Suliman S. Olayan School of Business building is expected to be complete by the end of January 2009. The building structure on AUB's lower campus and external works are complete, while the addition of all masonry work and plastering, steel structure erection, and steel doors and frames have been finalized. Stone cladding work for all the facades are 60 percent complete, and mechanical and electrical work is in progress. Currently, the ongoing work includes the installation of panel boards and main equipment, such as UPS and transformers.

As for the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, which will become a venue for international researchers and scholars, the new structure will replace the Gulbekian Infirmary building, formerly occupied by the University Health Services. While the Gulbekian is currently being pulled down, the process of comprehensive design for the site is in progress and is expected to be completed by June 2009. Construction will be executed by April 2011.

The School of Nursing plans to move to its new building upon its completion in November 2008. The final stages of completion of construction work are underway, after which the contractor will complete the internal testing and commissioning stage.
