AUB President Peter Dorman on October 7 announced this year's recipients of the University's three main scholarships: the Merit Scholarship, the Baccalaureate Scholarship, and the President's Scholarship. The scholarships will cover the student tuition fees in full, in addition to other expenses.

The Merit Scholarship recipients this year were five sophomore and four freshman students who ranked in the top of their category according to the admissions criteria of AUB. The eight students receiving the baccalaureate Scholarship ranked among the top ten in the Lebanese baccalaureate. The President's Scholarship was given this year to three students (one from Yemen and two from Sudan) from the Middle East and North African region to promote regional diversity at AUB.

"I am extremely grateful and thrilled to have this opportunity to study at the best university in the region," said Do'aa Bulfaqih, a Yemeni freshman who plans to pursue her degree in business administration. Bulfaqih was recommended for the scholarship while studying at AMIDEAST in Yemen.

The freshman Merit Scholarship recipients are Rostamnejad Sina Sirous and Kheireddine Sara Nadim (International School of Chouweifat), Fouad Bashjawish (Clifton High School), and Amanda Joanna Elias Kamar (Boylan Catholic High School). The sophomore Merit Scholarship recipients are Zakka Patrick Kamal (International College), El-Khatib Rafah Bassem (Saint Mary Orthodox College), Habib Bettina Antoine (Brumana High School), Elie Girgis Najem (Notre Dame de Jamhour College), and Edmond Elias Gaspard (College Marist Champville).

The Baccalaureate Scholarship recipients are Emane Joseph Abdallah (Aley Official Secondary School), Rasha Mohammad Al Khansa (Al Batoul Secondary School), Zeinab Hassan Chehab (Al Maaniyeh), Zalfa Hassan Hoballah (Khalid Ben Al Walid Secondary School), Abeer Hassan Mahfouz (Sour Public Secondary School for Girls), Maria Samir Makarem (Saida Public Secondary School for Girls), Dania Ali Shakroun (Sour Al Mostapha Secondary School), and Serene Hassan Taleb (Al Batoul Secondary School).

The President's Scholarship recipients are Do'aa Bulfaqih (AMIDEAST, Yemen), and Du'aa Abdel Rahman and Iman Abdel Wahab (Sudan Ahfad University).
