"Any student who walks into this office with a problem is guaranteed
to have it solved by the time he exits." This is a fact that Linda
Hammoudi strongly stands by. Her dedication and commitment to her work
has even had one staff member call her the "Queen of the Registrar."
Hammoudi began her career at AUB even before graduating from school, when
she worked as a summer clerk at the American University Hospital Medical
Center (AUBMC) for three years before graduating from St. Joseph School
in 1989. In 1990, she became a member of the AUB staff when she was employed
as a clerk at the Medical Center. Two years later, she landed the position
as secretary for the AUB School of Nursing under Gladys Mouro, director
of Nursing Services. Then in 1995, she moved to the Registrar's Office,
where she started off as a clerk-typist. However, two months later she
earned two promotions that moved her to her present position as secretary
to the registrar.
Hammoudi says that one of her current duties is printing out the diplomas
of all graduating students, noting that all the graduating names pass
through her. In 2001, she enrolled at AUB to earn a degree in Public Administration,
which she completed in 2007, while juggling her duties at AUB and also
starting a family. As for the future, she hopes to earn a master's in
human resources.
In her free time, Hammoudi enjoys taking hikes throughout Lebanon. She
adds that she likes to stay up to date on world events and that she is
eager to develop the institution she works for. Achieving personal growth
is essential, she says, and this comes through helping others, especially
the students, who constantly seek her help with their problems.
