CVEV041: Mechanics of Materials

3 credits, given annually.

This course covers: stresses, strains, and stress-strain relationship; tension and compression; torsion of circular bars.

CVEV051: Structures I

3 credits, given annually.

This course covers: influence lines, trusses, and beams; cables; deflection of beams and frames by double integration method, moment-area theorems, and conjugate beam; introduction to indeterminate structures; approximate analysis of building frames.

CVEV501: Advanced Structural Analysis

3 credits, given annually.

This course covers: review of matrix algebra; basic principles of structural analysis: stiffness, flexibility, and energy methods; direct stiffness method for plane and space trusses and frames; linear and non-linear problems; special problems; computer programming.

CVEV607: Finite Element Analysis

3 credits, alternate years.

This course covers: matrix algebra; energy theorems; analysis of discrete member systems; interpolation functions; numerical integration; plane stress and plane strain problems; axisymmetric problems; problems in three dimensions; plate bending.

CVEV118: Computer Methods in Civil Engineering (Undergraduate)
