Greetings. I am Jihad Makhoul, known also as Judy Makhoul. “Jihad” appears on my publications and official documents. Although Jihad is a man’s name, there are a few female Jihads I know besides me. The word is Arabic and means perseverance.

I live in Bterram, el Koura in North of Lebanon and drive to Beirut where I spend most of the week at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut. I have been working there since October 2000. I am currently an associate professor at and chairperson of the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health there.
